Cloud Nothings have always been exceptionally skilled at combining punchy pop--post-punk melodies with blistering noise rock over their decade-long career. The delicate balance they strike between these two styles is their calling card, and the push and pull is invigorating to watch. Last Building Burning disregards any feelings of hesitation. Each song is attacked with the intensity of a band with an extra tank to burn. You’re not listening to a studio band; you’re listening to a live band lay down some tracks in a studio.

Play: 2, 5, 7

.On An Edge (3:14) Ultra-fast punk rhythms and vocal throaty barks.
.Leave Him Now (3:04) Dinosaur Jr.-esque fuzz-ballad.
.In Shame (3:34) Misfits-like approach to a post punk track.
.Offer An End (4:08) More post-punk than post-hardcore, with juxtaposed arpeggios and harmonics.
.The Echo of the World (3:56) Hint of shoegaze in the way its guitars are enveloped in white-noise fuzz.
.Dissolution (10:51) From thunderous noise rock to feedback-laden abstraction and back again.
.So Right So Clean (3:42) Like doom metal/classic emo crashing over cymbals and slashing minor chords.
.Another Way Of Life (3:08) Guitars intersect the drums beautifully and tries to go faster and faster.
