Organ and vocal drones from D.C. Gentle harmonies, subtle loops, sparing piano. Informed by tragedy, this is grieving music shot through with the lightness of letting go—in Deluca’s words, “a moving stillness.” If I’m not mistaken, Deluca is a prominent staff member at the NEA; major shout-out to people in arts funding who are themselves adventurous practicing artists. Released on ACR, a London tape label that shines a very bright guiding light for emotive experimental music. RIYL Eluvium, Grouper, Sarah Davachi, Sister Grotto, Celer. Favorites: 1, 3, 4, though the long tracks are great too. No words, no FCCs.

1. *(7:18)—Vocal-forward with vocoder-esque effects. Soft, clattering piano sounds.
2. (15:51)—High, wispy loops. Deeper tones emerge. Subtle, shimmering high-pitched textures.
3. *(5:18)—Soft, faded piano. Layers of half-whispered harmony singing. Reminds me of Eluvium in a great way.
4. *(5:23)—Ringing, grand, long-decay piano harmonies. Choral vocals.
5. (24:18)—Lots of airy vocal layers. Gradual crescendo toward a waterfall-clear wall of drone. Peaks a few minutes before the end.
