Album Review

Imagine Nick Drake singing for Barn Owl. Enough said (Well, if I were Bruce I guess). Very unique music: finger picked gut stringed guitar arpeggios, sounds like it was recorded in an old cathedral or a warm house with tall ceilings. But picked in looping fashions with subtle melodic meanderings going on via his thumb and/or pinky. Beautiful stuff. Vocals are delivered in an off-time cadence and near whisper that are all too easily likened to Nick Drake (sorry Gareth, you probably are sick of hearing that). Great stuff. No “RIYL” because there is none, except maybe Barn Owl and Nick Drake, elements of early His Name Is Alive.

1) (4:10) pretty, plinky guitar, Nick Drake delivered chill vocs
2) 4:38) dreamy trippy guits
3)(7:14) a little more pensive, singing about our souls being in the desert, nice , false ending?
4)(2:47) cool picking and subtle melodies, instrumental
5)(7:00) very chill, sparse guit, vocs, picks up
6)(5:56) quiet, serene, turns to quick arpeggios and chiming notes, instrumental
7)(4:02) songlike, upbeat picking and pretty singing
8) (7:38) dark and quiet, picks up intensity, dark vocs “something is reaching an end”
