MARTIN, DAPHNE LEE: “Moxie” – Her Mantra: “Treat a Queen like a Whore and a Whore like a Queen”. Interesting blend of beats and musical styles. Movie soundtrack feeling. Travels back in time.

Personal Faves: 3, 4, 7. -- Sunshine April 2013

1) Sweet & Low Down – Big voice. Saloon player-piano sounds. Caliope?! Sounds like a Broadway musical. (3:09)
2) Whiskey & Sin – Cross between Saloon and Church. Interesting guitar. (4:24)
3) Belly – Cool beats at start. Soulful ditty. Almost a Bill Withers sound, instrumentally (not vocally!). Old School R&B. (5:30)
4) House That Built Itself – Pleasant female vocals. Upbeat ditty. Sax joins mix. (3:05)
5) Molotov – Confusion ensues. Then Country-Western HeeHaw feel. (3:48)
6) Faithless Beauty – Guitar strumming. Beats. Whining, breathy female vocals. Mariachi horns?! Emotive male vocals. (3:44)
7) Whispers – Reggae riddum. Big lovelorn vocals. (3:17)
8) Friendliest Room In Town – Cool, mysterious instrumental vibe. Then, it sounds as if she sings out of tune. Assorted moods. (3:54)
9) Cheers Darlin’ – Opens like an awards presentation. Tinkly piano. Deep emotional-filled vocals. Big strings. Sort of a ‘40s vibe. (4:44)
10) A Little Bit – Sort of an early Motown ballad feeling to start. Then, breathy female vocals. I think she’s trying to be sexy. Somewhat orchestral. Applause at end. (4:02)
