Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2013-08-27
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy come to mind with this post modern indie rock that mixes the best of dark 80’s into their novel brand of pop. Goth pop, cool stuff for sure. Male vocs, electro and big echoey chorused guitars and drums. Gated reverb on the drums completes the recipe. Echo and the Bunnymen, old (pre-’83) Cure

1) (3:44) 80’s dark pop chill urgent beat, cool swirls
2) (2:37) upbeat, new wave dancey, still very dark toned
3) (2:51) mid paced beat heavy, very 80’s in the guitar
4) (4:17) slower heavy dark beat
5) (2:42) chill beat, big deep bass, layered in a dreamy almost cheesy way (the 80’s had a lot of cheese)
6) (1:40) brief, dark synth heavy with some female vocs in there, an intro to the next song, play together
7) (3:10) a remarkable heavy beat, has the whole Echo and the Bunnymen feel happening, play with previous
8) (4:00) cool heavy, slow echoey hollow feel, old Cure
9) (2:50) upbeat, urgent and driving
10) (3:10) upbeat, noisey vocs over a cool beat, check it out
