San Francisco’s Solo Organ is Douglas Katelus, a musician/filmmaker that has played black metal-free jazz improvisation to noise rock and everything in between with a number of bands, including Reagan’s Memory and Black Pearl Stepchild. After scoring a Hammond organ on craigslist from a former preacher, Douglas created Solo Organ. Atom Heart and Beyond the Infinite is an album with four recordings that include two long tracks, one of these with two short epilogues at the end. Tone-cluster improvisations + catholic organ music + exotica music memories is what this album sounds like. The record’s artwork is courtesy of one of the most exciting visual artists working in the Bay Area right now - Shalo P. Droned.

RIYL: Wiggwaum, Reagan’s Memory, Korla Pandit, Nuclear Death Wish, and Dr. Lonnie Smith.

SIDE A
1. (22:09) *Atom Heart Mother – Drone ambient piece divided in several sections. Cinematic infatuation. Pink Floyd cover.

SIDE B
2. (18:08) **And The World Weeps/Beyond/Axis – Stirring rendition of Dr. Lonnie Smith composition. It has a phantasmagoric aura. The accompanying two pieces work as an epilogue – first one is quiet, second one is brash.
