Basically Cage the Elephant, but god I love it. Ohio-based folk rock band with a propensity for wacky experimental instrumentation, but they generally put out streamlined pop songs on this album. Some awesome melodies and interplay between male and female vocals. Folk-rock with pop sensibilities. Some really concise, exuberant tracks here. Engaging, wailing vocals occasionally, sometimes with shades of Jeff Mangum. Continued deep themes about consciousness, thought, and love mixed into punchy pop tracks.

Genre: poppy experimental rock, mainstream freak folk

Recommended Tracks: 3, 8, 9, 12

1. 2:32 Such Things – short piano intro, prominent vocals and guitars burst on to the scene, strong song to set the tone of the album
2. 0:06 /// - short interlude track
3. 2:47 Sleeper Hold* – Interplay of female and male vocals, memorable chorus, throbbing pop drum beat
4. 3:23 Estuary – slower track, nice acoustic intro, wandering synthy instrumental, yearning lyrics, nice female vocals compliment male lead
5. 3:44 Rare Form – wailing ballad with swelling chorus
6. 3:34 Bad Ideas – neat guitar soloing
7. 3:05 The Awefull Yawn –
8. 3:59 How Many Blankets Are In the World?** – Good question. Great track. Sweet acoustic backing, thoughtful lyrics, memorable melody
9. 3:15 River* – Awesome guitar riff, thumping drums, awesome playful chorus, track slows at the end but comes back for a nice close
10. 3:16 Soft Edges – Funky organ line, slow build to a suddenly, slow, cool chorus, very chill but slick guitar work
11. 0:34 The All Full On – Outtake from the River? Song fragment
12. 3:18 Necker Cube – Really poppy chorus, wacky oriental-infused intro
13. 04:38 Lazarus – Swaggering drumming, soaring chorus, plodding verses
14. 01:38 House Divided – Aimless strumming, nice singing
15. 3:45 Maya 31 – Necker Cube reprise? Catchy slamming drum beat, layered, murky vocals, more experimental than rest of tracks, dissonant close
