– General Description: Tom Keenlyside plays the flute and he plays it well. This is a collection of Brazilian classics. Some are well known and some are less familiar but who cares – these polished and imaginative arrangements accompanied by a top-notch gathering of musicians just shine. Almost as bright as the sun in Brazil. All these tracks are highly enjoyable and recommended. Only the last track has lyrics.

Keenlyside’s appreciation of Brazilian music started in 1963 with the classic Brazilian bossa nova jazz song Girl From Ipanema – “Dry and sonically unadorned, the harmonies and stark melodic beauty of Astrid Gilberto's voice popped out of the hi-fi like diamonds,” says Keenlyside. The Brazilian sound continued to influence him throughout his career as a jazz musician. He describes the music as both durable and flexible while maintaining the ability to enchant. Listen as he plays with his friends, filling these songs with vitality and fire.

– Track Reviews:
1. (1:29) Flauta So' Triste - “Flute so Sad”; bright flute solo that drifts off at the end
2. ***(5:28) Brejeiro - moderate pacing and nice catchy tune
3. (5:01) A Felicidade - “To Happiness”; strong piece with a fuller band and large-room reverb
4. (5:36) Carinhoso - “Affectionate”; low-key with smooth melody lines
5. (5:52) Biruta - happy, good music for dancing with lots of hip action
6. (3:16) Eu Te Amo - “For You I Love” - languid and lush with soft female vocals (no words)
7. (4:40) We and The Sea (Nos e o Mar) - medium-fast with mostly female vocals (no words), drum kit shines more
8. (5:07) A Raposa - “To Fox”; lively with electric piano that sounds like accordion
9. ***(5:32) Feather In The Wind - comfortable pacing with lots of unisons; call and response amongst the instruments
10. (00:36) Corcovado Intro - another bright flute solo that drifts off at the end
11. (6:07) Corcovado - dreamy, relaxed and lazy
12. (5:55) Assanhado - “Tangled”; upbeat with a very sixties feel to it
13. ***(4:49) Brazil - moderate pacing; lovely Jennifer Scott vocals, lyrics about how wonderful Brazil is
