Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2016-05-16
Atmospheric experimental, minimalism that builds. VERY slow to evolve pieces that hypnotize, sedate. Synths, tasteful. William Basinski comes to mind, Disintigration Loops, requiring an attention span. Glorious. The tracks are named after the four quantum numbers to specify the state of an electron. I got an A in P Chem when Reagan was still president. However, I have chosen to repress those traumatic memories, so don’t ask me to confirm.

1) (17:00) begins subaurally quiet, as in first 90 seconds are almost inaudible, but it’s a beautiful appropriate fade-in for beautiful light looping loveliness, after 5 minutes the track matures, digital glitchiness embellishments appear, 8-10 minutes in the track is more refined and purely atmospheric (this is awful but it reminds me of the Netflix hold music) , deep deep bass appears toward end and guides us out 2) (6:32) also fades in very quietly, long loops of serene stringy prettiness, after 4 minutes it changes moods to a more woodwind type synth tone 3) (8:57) again glacially slow to evolve, but so so lovely and worth it when it appears, soundtracky and pretty 4)* (13:35) subaudible until about 30 seconds (yet again), but here is the quiet drone you requested, ma’am, sir.
