Atmospheric, experimental & challenging, this release is exactly what one would expect from Brian Eno.

Like: Brian Eno… Robert Fripp.

1) The Ship (21.19) Like mellow fog horns blowing off a distant shore. Long, slow & delicious imagery. The vocals (almost spoken word) after 6 minutes do bring you out of the mood, although not quite enough to take away from the character of the track. The spoken word, deep in the background is particularly good when used, it is more prominent towards the final part.
2) Fickle Sun (i) (18.04) Experimental edge to it. Slow space age quality at first, leading to mellow vocals. Neo folk with a galactic twist, all with a throbbing pulse. Cut at 9.16 / 11.25 or stay for the final course. Last 7 minutes is a delicate balance between the effected vocals & synths.
3) Fickle Sun (ii) The Hour Is Thin (2.50) Soft piano with spoken word.
4) Fickle Sun (iii) I’m Set Free (5.18) Carries on from the previous as a brief introduction, then into a mid paced ballad style song, has a certain 70’s approach for me. (long fade) See how it measures up to The Velvet Underground’s version…
