Jazzy instrumental hip-hop that sounds a lot like their previous album, though this time it’s more of an outer space jam session. BadBadNotGood have also collaborated with some of the biggest names in the p4k sphere (some outcomes better than others). These are cosmic, questing, subtly unsettling dreamscapes driven by piano and saxophone—just a wonderfully entrancing record.

1. (4:31) And That, Too.—Piano, vibraphone, oddly playful in a spooky way.
2. (4:07) ** Speaking Gently—Neurotic fairytale medley of sounds. Sweet rolling drums. Goes through several movements.
3. (4:33) Time Moves Slow (feat. Sam Herring)—Vaguely trip-hop. Pensive guitar and faint whirring clouds of synths. The distinctive haunting vocals of Samuel T. Herring of Future Islands. Goes on unadventurously for a bit too long.
4. (6:24) **** Confessions Pt. II (feat. Colin Stetson)—I adore this. Crunchy locked-in bass groove, stand-out wandering bass and tenor sax from Colin Stetson. Just a wild, wild experimental sax jam. Very dancey in the last three minutes. Ends cold.
5. (3:20) ** Lavender (feat. Kaytranada)—Somewhat of a continuation of the previous track. Heavy, massive bass groove. Acoustic and electric guitar, some organ. Dark.
6. (3:51) ** Chompy’s Paradise—Smokey sax and flute, mournful in an almost excessively weighty way. Delicate bass and flute in last 30 seconds.
7. (6:59) *** IV—Colorful, confusing, relentless. Dark fluid bassline that holds everything together. “Jazz fusion.” Driven by a tremendously vibrant inconstancy.
8. (3:15) Hyssop of Love (feat. Mick Jenkins)—All the FCCs. Rap layered over classic BBNG bass groove.
9. (4:08) *** Structure No. 3—Thoughtful piano and synths that give way to a galactic piano jam. Soft tremulous synths at end.
10. (4:07) In Your Eyes (feat. Charlotte Day Wilson)—Overly maudlin. Soulful female vocals with some backing vocals. Some cheesy piano cuts. Not my favorite.
11. (4:46) **** Cashmere—Gorgeous flowing piano and flourishes of saxophone, minimal driving bass, more of a traditional jazz structure. Great closer.
