- General Description: Yes, THE John Carpenter, the movie director (“Halloween”, “The Fog”, “Escape From LA” – to name a few) who scored almost all of his movies using synths. Because he was praised for sound design, in 2014 he released his first-ever solo record (“Lost Themes”) and also started playing live shows. “Lost Themes II” features the same cowriters (his son Cody Carpenter and his godson Daniel Davies) with electric and acoustic guitar and drums along for the synth ride. Carpenter’s music is written to make you “see” things, so all the tracks I reviewed are what I “saw”. Thanks, John, you’re still as creepy and camp as ever.
