A spontaneous production recorded in just three hours with no rehearsal, as they call it, “Music on the fly”. James Lee singing, Cheryl Prashker on percussion and Chad Watson on bass in front of a live audience. The three had never played together, and, as expected, the music gets better as the album progresses. Almost every song has verbal intro listed as song before it. Intro’s also get more personable. Best 5, 7, 15, 17, 21
James Lee Stanley “Alive At Last – In Philadelphia
1. :23 intro
2. 3:52 Odd choice to begin with. Old Memphis blues feel- unlike rest of songs. My least favorite song.
3. :39 intro
4. 4:19 nice tune, voice sounds very emotional. Worry is conveyed. Slow
5. 5:42 Nice vocal inflections in slow tune. Reminiscent of Cat Stevens
6. :07 intro
7. 3:55 Stones cover. Awesome version. Slow
8. :09 intro
9. 3:53 Very unique sounding Beatles cover. Medium
10. 5:34 mellow and bluesy slow tune
11. 1:12 amusing intro – I also eschew obfuscation
12. 4:03 nice, slow/medium tempo, clear lyrics
13. 5:15 mellow and ambling. Nice guitar, folksy feel
14. :55 intro
15. 3:39 A modern day protest song about Hurricane Katrina- good vocal inflection, haunting theme
16. :30 intro
17. 3:46 Best vocal inflections on album
18. 3:51 Big blues influence
19. :21 intro
20. 5:12 gentle, varied. Feel of “easy listening”
21. 4;30 Nice, slow, rolling, melancholic feel
22. 2:46 intro
23. 3:22 Best song on album. Musicians relaxed, audience participation. Group drinking song.
