Jack Ingram “Midnight Motel”
Eighth album from 20 year veteran of playing in Roadhouses and touring. Recorded independently by Jack to avoid outside influences, Jack and the musicians played in the same studio room to create proper atmosphere. Well known musicians Charlie Sexton and Chad Cromwell rounded out the band. Mostly slow ballads and lamentations. The guy sounds depressed. Best are: 1/12, 6, 8, 11

1.(4:48) ** med-starts slow, opens up, slows. Good starting point to highlight vocals
2.(4:37) slow – sad with a hint of hope
3.(3:45) slow – expresses title and makes me feel like drinking too
4.(6:32) slow - voice more like talking than singing – a story
5.(4:59) slow/med – misleading ethereal sounds at beginning, then unimaginative song follows
6. (3:28) slow – nice vocal inflection, emotional
7.(4:24) slow – sound sad, even though he says he is happy
8.(3:01) ** my fave on album- he was LOW, til he fell in LOVE
9.(4:57) slow/med-another drinking ballad- more upbeat sound with dismal lyrics
10.(4:01) slow/med – generic ballad
11.(4:43) slow- Bob Dylan-esque sounding
12.(3:49) slow- acoustic version of song #1. I like this one better!
