Heron Oblivion - Heron Oblivion (Sub Pop)
Shay Z
Expansive classic rock with wild solos and beautiful hooks. Dig through our old vinyls no longer. Here is the modern update of that 70s guitar rock you’ve always wanted. Soaring vocal performances from Noel Von Harmonson triumph over some seriously chunky guitar soloing. Grimy and dark at times, pristine rock at other times. Great album through and through. Timeless.
Genre: My dad’s vinyls, classic rock
RIYL: Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Dead Meadow
Favorite Tracks: 2, 5, 7 (all great!)
(7:30) Beneath Fields - slow-paced, long looping guitar intro, beautiful vocals, squawking guitar work
(4:12) Oriar* - upbeat, huge intro, great pacing, awesome soloing
(3:51) Sudden Lament - peppy guitar work, poppier, gentler on the ears
(10:29) Rama - starts off slow, nice bass line, shreddin solo at about 5:00
(5:16) Faro* - upbeat, wonky lead guitar intro, compelling bass work, sweet chorus
(7:14) Seventeen Landscapes - Slow intro, builds to 3:00, expands
(6:13) Your Hollows* - mid-tempo, soaring chorus, explodes into some sick soloing
