Jean-Sebastian Truchy, TRANSMISSION IN AN EXPANSE OF FIRELIGHT, HEAR ME!, Root Strata|
An experimental 2-side distinct by its abrupt sonic shifts. In between these startles, it explores varieties soundscapes and emotions: chinese-restaurant-soothing sounds, avant-garde classical, skittish introspective anguish, and all of it can be described as various tormented. Recommend side A - more happens! RIYL Starving Weirdos, Master Musicians of Bukkake
#1. Wearing Golden Robes, Tranquil And Smiling !SHOCKING start - constantly drops and explodes into sound! An immediate wall of LOUD noise for 30 secs. Moves to avant-garde piano & subtle backgrounds: slightly disgusting globs shift suddenly into the main course, a growing minor organ + sheer wailing + midi processing + electronic chaos, climaxing during the 8th minute. Drops abruptly into exhausted tones, then noise-wind rainbells, then humorous hellish opera.
#2. ...You Shine In The Sky Of My Mind A more stripped-down and restrained variant of side A. Starts very quiet. Watery bubbling electric minimals and comforting haze behind. Suddenly goes Epic w/ big demonic submersion repetitive: switches between doom pulse /distant mental screams a la Actress and buzzing tv static, interspersed with atonal piano & violin & operatics. Repetition makes it sometimes boring.
Provided blurb: "Combining elements of Musique concrète, field recordings, plaintive MIDI strings and emotive vocals Transmission... unfolds like a stage production or opera in which all the characters are refracted into one. In his own words “I try to look at sounds and structures as neutral elements that have not yet been categorized by preconceived thoughts, judgement and/or taste - to apply the idea of emptiness to sounds, structure and form.”"
