Recorded at the Waterworks Museum in Boston, MA through 20 speakers. Glenn Jones plays guitar and banjo and is joined by Matthew Azevedo on synthesizer, harmonium, soundscapes, and signal processing. Wonderfully recorded; minimal burst of applause at the ends of all tracks; very precisely played guitar and banjo with interesting electronic effects; mixture of traditional flat-picking guitar and experimental

NO FCC's; all instrumental; Favorite tracks: 1, 2, 3

**1- The Great Pacific Northwest – 5:21-- starts with downward cascading arpeggios, very harp-like and pretty, makes me think of towering fir trees; segues into rhythmic chords with lots of bass and picking in treble; modulation and drone add depth; melody circles with electronic echo on outtro; applause at end

*2 –Across the Tappan Zee – 3:53-- starts with clear treble banjo picking out a circular ditty with modulation; attenuated muted yelling gradually increases in noise; banjo keeps going; kind of like crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge with a carload of kids?

*3-- Island 4 –2:09 – bendy single notes starts off as in slide guitar type sounds; a bit of electronic Hawaiian; very attenuated

4—The Portland Cement Factory at Monolith –6:19 – introduced as “John Fahey's song from 1964” --starts with broken modulating chords; segues into flat-picking style with constant thrumming beat that turns into serious industrial sounding noise; noise dies away and we're back to that distinctive mesmerizing Fahey sound which tapers off

5—Cleo Asleep –1:59 – light and treble with some background buzz

6 –Close to the Ground –4:49 –blues style; rocking beat; with background white and other noise

7—Portrait of Basho as a Young Dragon –6:24 – starts with drone and then guitar over that; segues into minor key blues melody; swingy rhythm

8 –Mother's Day – 5:33 – broken chords with echo and digital effects; swingy rhythm; quietly assured

9 –June Too Soon, October All Over –5:48 – pretty and evocative with interesting background noise; applause halfway through does NOT signal ending; cicada like sounds and muted audience comments continue and end with silence and no more applause
