Glaswegian Mary Ann Kennedy sets Scots Gaelic lyrics from poems written by others and herself to music; lilting Celtic voice; lots of passion here for the Old Ways; like Runrig's songs, her Gaelic seems understandable at least emotionally without translations; lots of elegies here for people and places past

NO FCC's (all Gaelic); Favorite tracks: 4, 6,10

1-Sein, Horo, Sein – (Sing!) – 4:55 --Gaelic lyrics accompanied by keyboard, guitar, and violin along with chorus; straight up anthem to sing out your heritage and culture

2- Oran do dh'lain Domhnallach (Song for John McDonald) –5:54 – interesting fusion of Tswana background with Kennedy's Gaelic singing as an elegy for a Scotsman who spent most of his life in Ghana and South Africa; accompanied by guitar

3 – Mise Fhuair (I Have Won the Apple) –3:29 –“and the buds filled on my tree and with the greenness of love- you grew into a round apple to my eye, that brought me sweetness beyond hope.” Solo, with pipes and accompaniment

*4—Sith Na coille (Forest's Peace) –5:54- starts with pipes; solo with guitar and violin; liltingly pretty and heartfelt

5-Eadar-Thir (Between-Land) -3:11 – “Between the two: the edge of creation and heart of the world”– lots of orchestration here under passionate singing

*6 –Dan Ur do Fhloraidh NicNill (A New Song for Flora MacNeil)-3:58 – heavy chords lead off this passionately sung elegy for famous Gaelic singer who also loved primroses; lots of pipe drone

7-Taigh an Uillit –3:33-- song in praise of a village in the Scotish Highlands – modern, almost jazz-like accompaniment

8 –Iain Againn Fhin -3:57--(Our Own John) – elegy to fallen WWI vet

9—Gradh Geal Mo Chridhe – 5:03 --”My True Love” – passionate singing with violin; poem set to music with chorus

*10 –Air Leathad Sleibhe -4:40 --”On A Hill-Land Slope” --4:40 – lighter singing with echoes and chorus-- limpid and beautiful

11-Grioglachan- 4:35 --”Constellation” - song of praise and dedication to soul sister of Mary Ann, Maggie MacDonald-- beautifully pointillist notes
