Leaver & Tim Holehouse|
Before The Fire
(Released by: Amek Collective)
Reviewed by BravoMarco
New release by Angel Simitchiev (behind the glorious Bulgarian outfit Mytrip) & in collaboration with the UK’s Tim Holehouse. (A prolific musician under this name as well as other aliases). This a match made in grizzerly neo folk heaven. Written & recorded in London, taking only three hours during a break in touring.

Very strong release.
1) Picture Postcards (12.21) Brooding pensive underbelly in tune with the delicate strumming, all balanced by the deep pangs of woe emanating from the vocals. Reaches a shimmering crescendo late on.
2) When Angels Sleep (11.40) Droney ballad-ering in perfect harmony with the anguish of the vocals. Becomes gradually more hypnotic, making the 11 minutes seem much too short. Perfect ending in the old DiJ style.
