Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2017-12-06
Searing brilliant epic prog, replete with mathy technical drums and and time signatures. King Crimson, Yes, Zappa couldn’t do better with the synths, pianos, guitars and Bruford’esque drums. The kicker is that instead of pompous vagaries this stuff features brilliant lyrics exposing sickness within our media consumer driven society.

1) (12:45) mathy proggy classic tones, like Yes meets Zappa and Mike Patton 2) FCC – very quick “shit” almost inaudible (3:55) less intense, almost mellow, vocal harmonies very classic prog, almost poppy with the melodies and tone 3) (6:56) slower phrased but still very mathy 4)* (10:08) begins very mellow, synths and ebows, almost ballady, soon launches into more of the epic prog 5)* (6:21) mellow smooth feel in the synth and tone, builds, great lyric hook “were not gonna take anymore, cant we all just get a lawn”, ends with sounds of crickets which blend into next 6)* (8:58) comes out of previous with sounds of crickets, distant treatment, like the band is on the car radio out in the yard, switches back to studio, long fade out with outdoor sounds again 7) (7:24) and comes out of outdoor ambient sounds, bassline melodies and chorused guitar reminiscent of Adrian Below, modern King Crimson 9) (7:36) disjunct all over, super prog
