Julie Byrne - “Not Even Happiness”

Second album from a self-taught musician with musical DNA from Buffalo New York. Her voice is both dreamy and profound. I like how she sings beautifully about nature. Aptly described as “a beguiling ode to the fringes of life.” I found it both spectacular and mediocre at different times. Best for me were 2,3,4,8,9

1. Slow - her husky melodious voice calls us to follow
2.* Slow/Med - prominent guitar, contemporary sound
3.** Slow/Med - gentle tune about seeing the Northwest, almost devotional
4.** Slow - Sounds just like what it describes: the clear mountains of Colorado
5. - Instrumental interlude with an interesting sounding instrument
6. Slow/Med - Nice melodious song, but nothing Earth shattering
7. Slow/Med - gentle, subtle love song
8.*** Slow - Sea sound in background with gentle guitar and truly spectacular vocals
9.** Slow - oh my goodness! She sounds like Enya - wow!!
