Album Review

From France, progressive cinematic orchestral avante experimental. Piano brass pensive strings, some vocalizations, all instrumental. Some tracks on the long side, others not, at least one is recorded live with applause. Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, Wagner, Laibach, big huge drama. Would fit in with any show, from indie pop to black metal, strangely enough.

1) (3:25)* begins with pensive plodding percussion, then a folk march appears with a mens chorus reciting prose in a Slavic language, womens voices counterpoint toward ends, creepy, reminds me of the drama of Wagner, or Laibach, this would totally fit in as an interlude in a black metal set 2) (4:11) very cinematic, approaching the deathstar, man all weapons
3)* (13:22) begins with quiet beat and pensive strings, builds with piano and trumpet bursts, after 3 min it seemingly comes to a complete stop, with a rumble so quiet its pretty much dead air, but then a dramatic piece crashes in with Miles Davis’esque trumpet and cinematic orchestration, dark and foreboding 4)* (22:33) starts slow but quickly turns to a dark plod then lots of cinematic drama, some weird voices, orchestral tones, all very avante and strange, great stuff 5) (2:46) pensive, spooky, quiet sparse synths start it 6)* (5:21) veeeery quiet long fade in, almost silence, creepy and chill, heavy bass and interesting percussive feel, minor keyed piano 7) (18:56) begins with train sounds then an orchestral piece builds with Morricone drama, ends with train sounds and 30 seconds of audience applause 8)* (4:35) pensive strings appear led by strong electric bass 9) (4:41) dark plod of synths and pianos, ends with applause
