LOCAL! The Oakland duo of Marielle V. Jakobsons and Chuck Johnson, each much played at KZSU. Here Johnson plays heart-melting pedal steel drones, similar to those on his recent (and heavenly) album Balsams, and Jakobsons makes deep, melodic tones on keys and synths. The one track here is 17:45, and it explores the rhythms of slow, even breath. It’s pillowy and therapeutic, and it evokes broad desert vistas at dawn.
