Afrobeat and highlife from an acolyte of, who else, Fela. (What's highlife? It's a Nigerian pop music form based on loping basslines, muted "chicken-scratch" guitar lines, and messages of positivity. ) The lyrical matter, for the most part, is not as incendiary as Fela's, the arrangements are less busy (I guess Olokun can't afford yet to pay twenty musicians), and the songs mostly in the 7- to 11-minute range. Recommended.

1. Low key - not slow but pretty mellow
2. Great hook, nice tune, message of harmony
3. Faster tempo, more highlife tone with the shimmery guitar runs, message of the golden rule
4. Funky groove, great horn solo
5. Super highlife groove, danceable beat, hummable tune, laid-back horn and guitar, and an "I love Africa" message straight outta the 70s, when hopes were briefly on a high in West Africa
