Manda & The Marbles - More Seduction (Go-Kart)-
REALLY awesome poppy, new-wave-y, punkish rock band from Columbus , OH. (Thanks Eric K! for the geography research on M.A.T.M.) Very much steeped in the early 80’s. Think: Kim Wilde fronting a dangerous version of the Go-Go’s sans the MTV hype. All solid songs, no duds!
1) Super-catchy, steady riffing & excellent power-pop/American new wave circa 1979-80.
2) Total Kim Wylde, Go-go’s/Missing Persons style w/BIG guitars. 'Omigawd I have to like sooo return that VHS of “Fast Times” !'
3) Drum/guitar intro not too unlike the Ramones circa ‘79-’80 + more Go-Go’s & your lame youth in suburban in Orange Co, CA. Basic & brilliant!
4.) More upbeat Go-go’s type rocker like a heavier version of their hit “Vacation”.
5.) Vocal/bass intro with EXTREMELY poppy, catchy & nice vibe w/punk guitars! AWESOME, TOTALLY AWESOME (As Mr. Spicoli would say!)
6.) Low E/low B string riff with new wave-y (re: Gary Numan’s “Cars”) touches. Great driving song. 7.) Straight up punk So. Cal styled. Awesome!
8.) Rather punky w/killer guitar work. Absurdly catchy. About a zillion times better than most bands that do this style.
9.) Not a Deicide cover (but that would be HELLA funny!) rather a mid-paced tune sort of like the Donnas, Go-Go’s and um...Transvision Vamp? (but much better than all 3 put together!!!)
10.) Elvis Costello with big guitars jammin’ with Joan Jett & a rawer, early version of the Bangles. 11.) Synth-heavy Gary Numan-like with Kim Wylde like vocals (that is if she really WAS a “Kid in America”!)
12.) Ramones-y riffin’ with killer vocals. All about “girls on the prowl”. I love it! You’ll only wish that she was singing this about YOU!
