Nora – Dreamers & Deadmen (Trustkill Records)
Hardcore, from Jersey, that’s quietly starting to creep up on metal and, to a lesser extent, emo. Very, very awesome stuff all around. I saw these guys perform twice this past summer, and their energy and drive and passion was like nothing I’d ever seen before. I’m ever so glad to see that their love and passion for what they create has been so perfectly captured on record. Excellent production on this one, with thick, crunchy guitars with a nice sampling of cool FX thrown in at various times to add that extra spice. The drums and bass are excellent, and the vocals are harsh like most NWOSDM and damn near indecipherable. The lyrics center on typical hardcore themes, with just a touch of emo, and are delivered with a certain “wow” factor that just floors you.

Tracks:
1) Starts out with an awesome groove, and then grabs you by your hair and shakes really hard.
2) Blasts right out the door with a more metal delivery and some excellent riffing. FCC at –3:20 (‘fucking’).
3) More groove, and more melody, too. Man, his voice is really getting a workout here. Excellent breakdown, and you see it coming from a mile away, plus a semi-solo.
4) More cool guitar lines, sounds almost like Opeth, and a fiery breakdown.
5) Upbeat lyrics, definitely delivered emo-style, but they don’t suck. Great guitar interlude.
6) Another lyrically upbeat tune, it doesn’t waste time and just slays. The whole song is like one big breakdown.
7) Creepy vocal intro, followed by more metal riffing. I really dig this one.
8) A little more typical hardcore, but still good.
9) Still more typical hardcore, but the breakdown alone is worth the song.
10) Another upbeat message, and the whole song is one long, continuous breakdown. Flail away, kiddies.
