Saxophone quartet music from our local heroes. Jazzlike pieces with classical structure and ideas, and plenty of space for improvising.

As usual, the pieces include some mesmerizing cross-soloing, with members tossing off a potpourri of ideas with one hand in the jazz bag. Every track is good, and they're all playful. 1 is the most pensive, 2 the most "radio-friendly."

1- A group improvisation based on some prearranged concepts. Opens with quirky declarations, then heads to slowly moving, spacious territory. This also includes prerecorded samples of the whole quartet, which provide an interesting background for the "live" quartet (there's a flurry of these starting around -8:30, in a mildly furious passage.)

2- A mid/fast, gentle bluesy bit. Catchy.

3- Starts fluttery and quietly busy. Becomes more of a "mad din" just after -7:15, as the quartet starts playing jaunty vamps with ecstatic squeaky solos.
