Not the best thing I’ve heard coming from SF ultra-sexy deep house label Loveslapped. However, tracks definitely have some redeeming features and deserve to be heard. Vox in both are quite soulful and well layed down, the dub track has a real solid bassline, and production is all around solid. Try the first cut for a more straight on house show, and the second for any sort of more atmospheric or progressive show.
1(the side that says “Loveslapped”) - Straight on 4-4 deep/funk house with a pseudo-Chicago sound; simple four-note piano riff and a bit of noodle-ing on flute and guitar. Soulful vox and funky guitar riffing adds a full texture. Definitely a bit cheesy, but solid production and a good effort. Songs takes a few minutes to get into effect, so don’t panic when the first two minutes are a bit thin! Lacks decent bassline…
2(the side with the track names listed) – Essentially the same song with a lot of echo effects at work. Also, they’ve added a much needed groovy bassline and some cool synth stuff, giving the track an almost progressive feel. Sadly though, now they’ve lost the energy of the instrumentation by getting a little two heavy on the echo effects. The vox are used more sparingly and atmospheric and I think they work well here. A good effort. Nice drop around three minutes in followed by just bass entering.
