Album Review
The Bawd Of Euphony
Reviewed 2004-08-03
Hailing from my home town of Brooklyn, NY Erika Simonian (The Erics, Sprinkle Genies) brings us her second solo record, and boy is it a beauty. Very intimate, moody songs carefully spaced to give you the feeling of a late night or early morning recollection. Mostly Acoustic guitar and voice (and a beautiful voice I might ad) with the occastional keyboard, drum set, electric guitar, and even a kazoo! Great guitar work and song structuring with very poignant lyrics. This is a hauntingly beautiful record, where the songs crawl their way into your being and find their place inside you. PLAY THIS!!!
- tHE bAWD oF euphony

1** I love this song, probably the saddest on the record. Simple and dark. Fuck…
2 -Soft fingered acoustic guitar and lullabyish vocals. Vibes and vocal harmonies enter.
3* Finger guitar and distant vocals. Brighter in feel. Listen closely for the birdies, & Erika’s beautiful siren call. This feels like the morning after good sex. I dunno why.
4** Powerful mid tempo song with electric guitar vox and keys. Full drums enter for chorus. Builds towards the end. Great stuff!. Anyone who mentions “Satan” gets props…
5- Has a country ballad feel. Simple with great layering of melody.
6- Country vibe again. Simple and great. Is that Kazoo distorted?
7** Ok this is my favoritte track, muted guitars with cool electro beat swelling in and out. PJ ish with great lyrics about a one night stand. Erika can be my Warrior princess anytime!
8** Bold cover of Springsteens “Dancing in the dark”. Just guitar and vox. Beautiful
9* Bluesy shuffle. Kind of sexy. Great layering of electric guits and drums.
10- Fingered guitar and vox. Hopeful sounding but still moody.
11** Another raunchy one very PJ ish. Great description of the dark side of falling in love.
12* Beautiful guitar playing, moody all the way. Nice harmonies.
13- Slow acoustic strumming. Kind of anthemesque.
