The mighty Charles Atlas plays mightily melodic & mostly instrumental song streams. They are known for their drumless songs, built up from repeated guitar and piano melodies that weave in and out on consciousness (you will hear an occasional drum machine). Their music is very moody and haunting to the core and the musicianship is stellar, lead mostly by incredible guitar and piano work. To the Dust are their 5th record and their most stunning to date. Floydian at heart, Charles Atlas deal the Mood. If you know what is good for you PLAY THIS! –the bAWd of eUPHONY
1**(7:33) Great song. Begins with repeated moody bass line. Luscious Piano carries over the top joined later by a simple drum machine. Great cello playing enters as well. Awesome!
2**(7:14) Slow repeated guitar line, very bare begins. Warm organ and bass lay down the bottom as the song builds in beauty. Gentle harmonium leads the way. Stunning!
3*(3:55) Simple drum machine with repeated guitar line. Warmer in sound and hopeful. Great organ tones enter later. Kiss me
4*(5:18) Stunning track carried by the beautiful singing of local Maiden Odessa Chen. Slow and wispy with slow piano chords and bass. Cool xylo parts as well. Love it!
5**(9:20) Longer track. Repeated guitar line with singing xylo and guitar with simple piano lines. Textures get a bit thicker throughout with cello work and bass lines. A great ride!
6* (5:32) Beautiful guitars bare and simple ring out more upbeat and faster paced. Hopeful again with stunning piano and cello work. Make love to me now
7** (6:08) Backwards loops begin and lead us to a bare organ which sings to the ear. Strange sounds swell up and take over. Feel changes into a hopeful boss nova. Oddest song so far and I love every second of it. Great pulse.
