Another, strictly Hindustani classical album from the India Archive Music. This time the singer is Mashkoor Ali Khan performing the Khayal ( a very popular style of singing Hindustani classical. The roots of the word are Persian, meaning thought). He sings in two Ragas – Raga Lalit and Raga Miyan ki Todi.

Raga Lalit is a very early morning raga, ‘pre-sunrise’ ( 3 hour period before sunrise ).
1.‘Vilambit’ means slow tempo. Hence the length of the track. Takes it time to rest at each note, explore it fully and then moves on to the other notes. No excitement, extremely relaxing.
2. Same raga, with a different rhythm cycle, faster. (‘Drut’ means fast)

Miyan ki Todi is attributed to Miyan Tansen, one of the foremost singers during the Mughal period (16th century). This is also a morning Raga.
1.Same tempo as the first track, ‘Vilambit’. Slowly builds up, never going overboard.
2. ‘Drut’, fast presentation of the Raga. Around the 2nd minute, he really picks it up and sings the notes so fast, it is hard to differentiate the separate notes.
