Compilation: Lunch Money Singles Volume 1.
Label: Bully Records.

Compilation of sample/electronic music. The music is cerebral, with some nods toward dance. The prevailing aesthetic is chilly and emotionally removed. Some familiar names, like Sixtoo, but (for me) also some nice discoveries. Recommend tracks 1, 4, 9, 16.

1) 85 bpm. Spooky whistle, sampled hummed male vocal. Chill. Develops shuffle beat, later glitchy, with a little scratching and sax sample. Recommended.
2) 72 bpm. Icy cool. Glitch, with machine samples, acoustic piano.
3) 100 bpm. Lusher electronic sounds. Beatier, with sampled drums. Gets minimal, then disjointed.
4) 96 bpm. Hallucinatory male vocal sample about shattered face, distant bagpipes, chilly electronics, harpsichord (?). Later, more dancy, with growly vocal. Falls apart, then ends. Really interesting samples.
5) 60 bpm. Sampled harp arpeggios, sampled male poetry aligned with the beat. More overtly dance oriented. Later, alto sax, sampled drums.
6) 72 bpm. Crowd noise, then piano and beat. Ends with vocal sample.
7) 72 bpm. Would sound good played continuously with (6). Bumpy bass, repeated sample “Come on!” Later, standoffish power guitar.
8) !!!FCC!!! Do not play! “Bitch shit fuckin fuckin fuckin whore bitch shit.” Movie dialog featuring bitter old misogynist.
9) 76 bpm. “I freak beats with correct techniques” Big beat, but not dance oriented. Spare, with nice production. Recommended.
10) 110 bpm. Fragment, chilly electronic sounds, trap beats.
11) 116 bpm. Beat made from popping sounds. Spare, pretty melody. Later, stronger beat.
12) 96 bpm. Snare beat, pulsing bass, atmospheric electronic effects.
13) 96 bpm. Heavy beat, with interesting electronic squiggles.
14) 100 bpm. Pure sine pulse notes and fuzzy guitar. Sampled male song “I wish I had a brother” Gets dancy about 2 minutes in.
15) 100 bpm. Sampled female soul singer. Mid way through, a screech, and becomes abruptly ominous with chilly electronics.
16) 72 bpm. Sampled acoustic instruments mixed with electronic sounds. Thick ominous textures, shuffling beat. Very nice.
17) 120 bpm. Coughing sounds. Again, thicker production.
18) 150 bpm. Childrens choir sample, then drums, becomes a rhythmic study.
