Punk rock ‘n’ roll with street girl attitude (snotty punk vocals – in a good way), pop harmonies, and feisty fashion sense – from Phoenix, AZ! Tight, driving, catchy songs with layered background vocals. Les Hell on Heels has only been together since Fall 2003; members of the band have been part of other all-girl punk bands, the Peeps and the Tempe Tramps. They like to make vulgar jokes together. The record label, Bomp!, is one of the oldest surviving indie labels (started in 1974 by Greg Shaw, who recently passed away). Influences include Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, L7, Joan Jett, The Cramps. PLAY ALL.

1) “My Kind of Trouble.” Starts mid-tempo. Guitar picks up around 0:12. Vox at 0:24. Verses are pretty light on instrumentation. B-52s-like
back-ups at 1:00. (3:24)
2) “Got What You Need.” Faster tempo than song 1. More of a classic rock ‘n’ roll feel. “Aaah!s,” “HA!s,” and “Hey!s” 1:29 instrumental interlude.
3) “Hell on Heels.” All four members wrote this song. Some lower vocal ranges demonstrated in parts of this song. Almost alternating talking and singing. Instrumental interlude at 0:58 to 1:18. (2:20)
4) *“He’s Alright.” Ends of a guitar chord start the song. Single-string guitar riff at 0:07. Drums at 0:12. 0:18 full band instruments come in. Vox at 0:30. Cool pause at 1:41 before bridge. Riff again at 1:53. "Yeow!" at 2:15. (2:40)
5) *“Ain’t So Cool.” Cover of Jeff Dahl. Vox in at 0:05. Cool high hat background at 0:44 to 1:02. Pause at 1:49. Drop down to drum and bass
background at 1:40. Louder layered vocals at 1:53. (2:26) I’M CONVINCED THE SONG TITLE IS SWITCHED WITH #6.
6) “Said & Done.” “Sha-la-las” at 0:04, and repeated throughout song. 0:48 just vox, drums, bass. Fades out around 2:00. (2:04)
7) “Real Thing.” Quick beginning. 0:07 vox. 0:39 to 0:44 just instruments. Again from 1:16 to 1:27. 1:41 starts to fade out. (1:45)
8) “Broke Down Love.” Starts with drums. 0:03 guitars in. Lower vocals on this one. Guitar interlude 1:55 to 2:05. 2:39 just vox and guitar. Drum layering at 2:47. 2:50 second guitar. (3:34)
9) *“Waste of Time.” Starts with one guitar, drums in at 0:04. Second guitar in at 0:11. Vox at 0:22 immediately with layered vocals. Vocalist
drags out the “want”s, “around”s, “should”s, and “me”s. 2:23 drops the guitar chords. Full band back at 2:34. Scream at 2:46. Ends abruptly with “Huh!” at 2:51. (2:55)
10) *“Pretender.” Fast drums, guitar in at 0:03. More guitar at 0:10. More layered vocals than usual. “Oh-oh”s. 1:45 to 1:54 just guitar. 2:25 ends. (2:27)
11) *“Snake Eyes.” Fast guitar riff. 0:12 some vox. 0:22 more. Tempo faster than other songs. “Oh-oh”s and “Yeah-yeah”s. 0:50 just vox, “Oh, yeah.” 1:21 “M-m-m-more-more!” 1:48 “whoa-oa-oa.” “Oh!s” at 2:06. 2:15 starts fading out. 2:20 one more chord signals finish.(2:22) -margot
