Album Review

More great *instrumental* stuff from electric guitar god Nels Cline. Tuneful, lush, and bright... also harsh, noisy, and spiky. Often at the same time. Again Nels teams up with a Bay Area backing band: bassist Devin Hoff (Good for Cows) and drummer Scott Amendola (who has his own awesome band). Note songster Jon Brion (Aimee Mann's cohort) making a subtle appearance on track 6.

- Quiet, soft, with bluesy chords and fast blurry soloing
- Fast, bright, crazy. Vicious, noisy soloing.
- Indie-rock-ish. Big tumbling chords, menacing but a bit lyrical.
- Starts pretty & ballad-y. At -3:30, becomes a slow-rock stomp.
- One-minute jangly improv
- Big, soaring, dramatic. First half quiet, pretty.
- Mostly slow and lyrical, a lush jazzy break
- Gentle and quiet, with electronic scuffling underneath
- Fast prog attack! Odd time signatures!
- Slow, creeping
- Tuneful, lush, pretty
