Misery Index – Dissent (Anarchos)
Brutal, political, techie grindcore. Big down-tuned guitars and some of the fastest drumming you’ve heard. It’s somewhat of a concept EP. The first 4 songs are different parts to one track. This is surprisingly melodic even when it’s very fast and heavy. Catchy grindcore? Some metalcore sounds, some pure metal sounds, and some thrash sounds.
**1. A slow discordant dirge with speaking instead of singing during the 1st minute. The track remains slow but big double bass drums come in. This reminds me of Bolt Thrower.
**2. Faster with more of a punk/hardcore sound in the guitars. There is a massive breakdown, longish guitar solo, and a section were they put their heads down and thrash away. Amazing! Lots of different sounds and many changes.
**3. Like their last full-length, fast, brutal, with lots of individual note riffs on guitar.
4. Pummeling, lots of low end, and heavy.
**5. Like track 3 and their last record. Fast grindcore yet catchy.
Awesome stuff! -mph
