Big band jazz w/mucho horns & percussion and some great guest vocalists. Recorded live at the Allen Room at the new Jazz at Lincoln Center (watch for applause at end of tracks). It’s gorgeous, lush music, expertly played by masters of the Afro-Latin sound. If you want improvisations & raw energy, this is not it. Instead, it’s tightly arranged, true big-band music w/style and sophistication. It’s martini jazz, not tequila jazz. And it’s all so damned good…play it all.
1. Big & brassy w/nice midtempo bits. A touch of movie theme song
2. Sexy, sophisticated, little dance w/warm male vocals & great horns.
3. Slow & romantic w/female vocals, lots of horns/piano/perc.
4. A fast & frisky romp for vox/horns/perc/happiness. Nice energy
5. Starts slow, picks up. Fem. vox playing tag w/horns. Hot & brassy.
6. Lush, playful vocal duet leads this deliciously jazzy dance.
7. Relaxed cha-cha. Good vocals, nice percussion & horns too.
8. Jazzily retro little jam. Fast, fun, way too short.
9. Rich & romantic w/nice piano solo/vox/horns/perc. Sigh….
10. Mid/uptempo. Lots of work from the horns/perc. Yow!
11. At times brassy, at times sleepy. Relaxed retro fun w/fem vox.
12. Slow, late-night music. Lots of brass w/laughter at the end.
13. Big, busy and fast. A great show-closer to bring you to your feet.
