Obviously modern, free harmonies and rhythms, yet very accessible. 3. is a pot-pourri. 4. suited my tastes. 5. had lots of energy. I found 2. a bit dragging at times. FCC clean. Picks 4,5,3.

1-(7:48) Fast skitterish, long runs with piano chord stabs underneath. Plays with a couple nice themes. ~2:00 slows and gets quiet towards end. Violin, cello, flute, clarinet, perc., piano.
2-(10:47) Quiet, sneaky/tense beginning. Eventually we get "clock ticking" motifs. piano and xylophone keep beat. Other instruments make frenetic appearances. Has two dark climaxes towards end with heavy bells. Ends quiet. Last 20 sec. silence.
*3-(15:53) Ominous rumbling beginning. Fast virtuousic. Ravel at times? -13:00 slows and becomes lyric. Piano steadily beating underneath jumpy lines by clarinet, strings. -8:50 builds and crashes to rapidfire schoenberg section. Kind of lighthearted. -6:00 the party ends. Dark, low, and tumultuous. -3:30 nice tense build up to finale.
**4-(12:43) Prominent oboe. Nice long wandering lines. Interesting and music goes places. Nice chamber piece.
*5-(14:52) Fast energetic arco bowing. Swirling and neo-classical. Fast sixteenths are passed around through the instruments. Fun.
