Album Review
Red West
Reviewed 2007-08-21
Good Latin pop, sung in Spanish. Polished fem vocal, tropical sound with guitar/ bass/ drum/ synth/ somewhat exotic percussion, a bit new-agey perhaps. Columbian band that’s been around about a dozen years, releasing this after a 5 yr hiatus while the core duo did solo albums.

1.Upbeat, happy-love song.
2.Nature sounds, mellow, outdoorsy. Builds a bit.
3.Mid-tempo. M+F harmonize chorus vocals. intro drum sounds celtic? Nice horns embellish.
4.More latin sound, mid-fast. I guess it’s a protest song!
5.Minor key, mid-low energy
6.Slow, drags a bit
7.Faster, some call & response, nice tabla & perc. Toe-tapping.
8.Weird rhythm, 6/8? Mid-tempo and otherwise pleasant.
9.mid-fast and minor key, male background vox. Sounds like a complaint, with elements of samba
10.Extended tabla & vocal intro, then decent standard world-pop
11 Mysterious backing (Tibetan chanting. synth didgeridoo?)
12. Mid-fast, catchy
13.Simple, good melody, poetic lyric
