Einsturzende Neubauten - Stimmen Reste

Old school industrial noise. Some of the band’s more interesting work—entirely made up of “vocal experiments,” with touches of their trademark industrial sounds. An attempt at something more like “high” sound art that is never “arty,” all very visceral—they keep most of the track lengths down so that it stays interesting, and the longer tracks have enough structure combined with the (rare) humanity of the vocal samples to keep you on edge. No FFCs. Track 6, 2, 4, 7.

1. A barrage of german voices, like in an airport or a TV or a computer. From which a movement starts rising of slow percussive beats. [4:32]

**2. Surprisingly great track. Quiet, introspective, slow, spiritual. Like being in a lost temple. Ominous low harmonic sounds build up, slowly filling the space around you with all ends of the sound spectrum. Then comes to an intense head at 15:30, with a series of urgent rising choral chorus voices that at their peak are cut off by the beating of a reverberating, thundering drum. Ends with singing in german, and a climactic death-cry. [19:47]

3. Just quietly repeating “death” in a heavy accent every 5 or 10 seconds. [2:00]

**4. Crackling chitinous noise, deep percussion, slow rising movement, then Bass Guitar! And melodic, unchaotic singing “Tohuwabohu” (primordial chaos/void). [8:47]

5. Sound art of grunts and interjections. [0:40]

***6. Tremulous mechanics/Vocals, and almost laptoppy electronic sounds. [4:32]

***7. Voices rhythmically fading in and out, some nice small harmonic/bass sounds. [2:02]

8. Strange words and vocal patterns. No idea what he’s saying. [0:35]
