Up the Empire – Light Rides the Super Major Reviewed by Witz
Energetic Pop-Rock. Hailing from Brooklyn, these three rockers blend steady guitar rhythms and drum beats with melodic rock vocals to create a solid album of catchy, poppy, rock songs. There is some experimentation in the album, and the opening track will have you thinking of bands like Parts & Labor, but overall, Up the Empire packs their first full length album with a steady stream of pop-rock and energetic anthems. All pretty decent. FCC CLEAN.
**1) Poppy with catchy and solid guitar work. More subdued vocals. Clearly the hit. (4:09)
2) Straightforward up-tempo indie rock. At times like The Strokes with dance rock beat on drums. (3:55)
3) Banging, crashing, distorted rock with melodic vocals. (4:06)
4) Mellow, quieter ambient track. Builds a little by the end. (3:49)
5) Steady and catchy, good harmonies, good buildups and breakdowns. (3:34)
