Psychedelic Sunrise by the Chesterfield Kings: The beginning of this album is solidly in the realm of psychedelic garage rock. Later tracks venture into Rolling Stones-esque territory, and harder, almost southern, rock. From a recording standpoint, the drums (especially snare and toms) are very present on this album. Many of the vocals remind me of John Flansbergh's (of They Might Be Giants) voice, but imagine his sole purpose in life is to sing a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" over and over and over again. And over.

_1_: rockin' psychedelic pop song with clikclik of wood blocks and some guitar solos. slow fade out starts around -0:17.
2: harmonies give this rock song an hard, sour, acidic edge.
_3_: very happy pop rock. lyrics are played in reverse starting at -0:28.
4: more of the same harmonious rock stuff.
*5: piano, harmonica, drums, guitar. gritty rock vocals.
6: weird, not like the rest of the songs at all. Harpsichord, violin, tamborine, and drums. brief clean guitar solo near the end of the song.
7: steals so much from "Paint it Black" that you won't notice anything else about the song. oh, has a sitar. heh.
8: hard rocker. No relation to the Wilco song of a similar name.
9: country rock.
10: harmonica intro. mostly a guitar/organ/vocals piece.
*11: more of the same. vocal harmonies make the chorus stand out.
12: more ratty/gritty vocals over a rock band. jumps into to a faster, harmonica rock-out bit for the middle 25% of the song.

RIYL: Rolling Stones, Ocean Colour Scene, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
FCC: All clean
REC: _3_, _1_, 5, 11
Personal observation: this space is so played out. Get a six pack of Miller Lite and listen to this album with your back porch buddies. 2 of 5 stars
