FREDRIK LJUNGKVIST & YUN KAN 5: Badaling
Caprice, 2007
SWEDISH AVANT JAZZ - Saxophonist/clarinetist with a friendly, non-threatening avant-garde sound that takes off from small, deliberately-phrased themes. Tight chamber-jazz quintet includes tuba for interesting flavor; piano (Klas Nevrin) and drums (Jon Fält) really stand out. Highly enjoyable stuff.

2. 03:37 - gentle, off-kilter tune; tuba, sax, piano take turns out front

4. 05:33 - oblique intro, slow walk w/clarinet, turns very quiet & abstract
5. 04:46 - piano clusters over clattering sounds, becomes a curious creep
