Album Review

Indie pop/ hip-hop blend – simple melodies, complex beats over rich electronic backdrops. Lots of noisy casio & drum machine. Dude’s a drummer – apparently did beats for Aceyalone, Busdriver – and it definitely shines through. So do his rap vocals, which is what really distinguishes this album from other similar stuff – i.e. the Unicorns, 13 & God, the Mae Shi. Try 11, 9, 8, 17

1) Pop ballad, lots o’ casios
2) Short, sparkly, harmonica & fem vocals
3) Nice hook, vox reminiscent of arcade fire
4) Bare acoustic guitar & harmonic vocals
5) Melodica, synth & great hook.
6) FCC Dark bass, hollow beats. Vox are angry, heartbroken
7) Fantastic horn intro. Quirky song
8) Ethereal, sparkly synths, gentle beat. Sweet song.
9) FCC Good beat, beautiful melody in strings, harder vocals.
10) Female backing vox give softness
11) Super distortion & feedback with melody overlaid
12) Nice melody, but a bland beat overpowers & detracts
13) Group harmony vocals, ala Animal Collective
14) Lots of good components here… a tad heavy on the drum machine.
15) Noisy; drums, fuzz, blown out vocals
16) Mellow, pretty
17) Soft spoken vocals, gorgeous fuzzy electronics
