NOTE: Watch for sloppy cuts, sub-30 second interstitial tracks and extra silence at the end of many cuts..
1. Glimmering harps and soft sounds.
_2_. Male and fem vox, understated slide guitar, builds to a swell but then nearly abruptly ends.
_3_. Political protest song. psychedelic pop. reverse guitars about half way through. smooth, soft vocals with thundering but muted drums, lots of guitar.
4. Lasts only 10 seconds.
5. Frantic, thumping harmonica and distorted vocals jam. Sounds like a possessed preacher. Whoa.
_6_. Instrumental. Reed and stringed instruments abound, soft guitar and drums. Sounds like something that would accompany a modern silent film. Good for a music break.
7. Soft vocals, recorded with indirect mics and lots of reverb, make it sound like you're in a dark, damp echoey basement. Strings. ~3 seconds of silence on the end.
8. Mishmash of samples and noise. Starts of with a baby crying. Beck-esque vocals and awkward somewhat rhyming lyrics.
9. A bizarre mismash. Very short (20 seconds)
10. Sounds like there's a thumb piano/kalimba in the background, very folksy/alt-countryish with a hint of Simon and Garfunkel.
11. Upbeat, harmonies. Some Beatles influence.
12. Instrumental. Lunar landing feel. Short (ends at 1:12 plus 8 more seconds of silence.)
_13_. Samba. Goofy number, half in Spanish (I think..), which I'm not qualified to check for FCCs. recalls David Byrne and Beck.
14. 24 seconds of humming. The track is named after member Jeremy Black's recording studio in Oakland.
15. Male and fem vox. Slide guitar. Sounds like Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton doing a duet. (Eww?!)
16. Noise. Incredibly quiet. Ends at 1:28. Picks up again with lame-o tongue-in-cheek "hidden track" at 2:24 that is a cross between propaganda and something very Sgt. Peppery.

FCCs: All clean
RIYL: Flaming Lips

Personal take: Apollo Sunshine's album is all over the place. It's been alternately described as "hippie shit" and "psychedelic" and "pop". It's unfair to call it any of these, because it doesn't do a great job at any of them. 2.0/5 stars.
