Hersch's lush piano meets the jazzy but artsy clarinet/sax of Michael Moore (not the filmmaker). Moore is better known for a quirky style of Dutch jazz, but in an accessible way, with hints of Klezmer. Hersch is more mainstream but gets pushed into some off-color tricks (moments of track 3, e.g.) Overall mood is like a velvety film noir, hushed and heavy.

By the way, this pairing isn't so random: The two guys have known each other since 1975.

- Soft, romantic. Quiet New England autumn leaves.
- Light, dancing
- Slow, heavy. Moore gets into squeaky, piping notes
- Light and fleeting. Sounds like something Myra Melford would do: A lilting, sunny ballet that doesn't fit the usual jazz mold but wouldn't feel out of place in a jazz club.
- Drifting but assertive. Touches of blues in the later soloing.
- Upbeat. Bouncy jazz-standard feel.
- Classical feel, delicate
- Mid/fast.
- Wandering and wistful
- Mid/fast; soft but perky. Gets bouncy. Klezmer hints.
- Mid/fast but softly content.
