Dokkemand, “Hons!”
Synthy, atmospheric electro-pop; for fans of The Notwist, Lali Puna, etc… at times sounds like an electrified BSS. Rich, echo-y musical landscapes full of a variety of layered sounds, which can sometimes feel too disorderly, but other times work nicely. The better songs feel somehow snowy and pure, possibly because of Dokkemand’s Norwegian origins… or maybe I’m just reading too far into this. Anyway, if you have a taste for anything electronic, this will be a nice addition to your show. No FCCs. Recommended tracks: 2, 6, 11.

1. Upbeat song with lots of chimes, and no real vocals. Some distortion, nicely paired with acoustic guitar rhythms. [3:50]
2. Funky, percussion-driven track. Subtle synths in the background and echoing, soft vocals. [3:06]
3. Slower track, but with dizzying rhythms. High, distant-sounding female vocals. Cool panning bridge around 2:00. This song sounds very much like The Notwist. [3:23]
4. Sweet, reverberating song that feels somehow wintry. Subtle vocals that sound almost like whispering. Ending a chaotic mix of synths, bells, and a spooky drone. [5:21]
5. Like being inside an icy cave, surrounded by icicles and synthesizers, listening to a band made up of snowmen. [3:09]
6. Playful song with lots of panning and a simple synth melody. Percussion comes in midway, along with sweet choral vocals. [3:50]
7. More vocally driven song w/ prominent female vocals. Lyrics are frankly not too interesting, though sung with a charming accent. [4:09]
8. A melodic instrumental, with many different styles/sounds. Builds up to a chaotic climax, then finishes with bizarre harmonized techno-drivel. [4:06]
9. A hubbub of electronic sounds, layered over drum rhythms… not easy listening. [3:42]
10. Poor man’s Aphex Twin. [2:44]
11. Another sweet, snowy track. Telephonic sounds, synth and percussion, with distant female vocals. [3:42]
12. Jarring techno-ballad: ends abruptly. [1:46]
