Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Fans of Lilliput, New Age Steppers, Monitor, London No Wave take note. Female vocals, not limited to tribal if dubby and low fi percussion (well recorded mind you). No way to pigeonhole this stuff. Obviously not standard “band” type material, but not experimental collage or improv, but maintains an organic tone throughout. Just really great, listen for yourself or just play sight unseen (will fit in every radio show currently on kzsu, that’s not blues, hip hop or strictly country).

1) slow to build, tribal drumming with looped voice sample, hypnotic
2) think Slits/New Age Steppers: dubby with an eastern flavor, subtle worldy, female vocals
3) chill dark eastern flare, reminds me of an old band called Monitor
4) chill, brief
5) dark and very Slits’y
6) very low fi and Lilliput/Kleenix with the percussion and no-wave urgency, strange effects, cool 7) sounds like kalimba fun at first but is just an intro to a great buildup of a wall of sound, almost noisey, killer!
8) a fun dancey if head nodding beat, cool melodies and tribalisms, awesome
9) piano chords with layers of looped noise, melodic and pretty and killer for a more experimental mood
