"Music based on medieval songs from Norway," it says. Kind of a morose world-music vibe, with Garnas' clear, strong vocals accompanied by a bunch of instruments played by Garbarek: lots of synths, lots of percussion, some sax. One 16-minute track (3), while busy, conjures up visions of empty Nordic tundra -- the cover image of a real reindeer sleigh speeding across the plains probably adds to that effect.
I should note that track 3 also follows the form of an epic folk song -- the melody keeps recurring over and over for 16 minutes. The album is definitely song-based; it's not experimental noise or anything.
