Sax/piano duets, with piano leaning towards modern classical, and sax that starts from a free jazz base. Abstract stuff, all improvised but organic, a very "acoustic" session. It's carefully considered stuff, not a fast noisy blowout, and they do find space to goof around a little. I like the thoughtfulness of these pieces; fast ones like 13 are ear-catching on radio but the very slow 7 is a treat too, I think.
- Jazzy. Heavy piano, Late-night sax played in dark, slowish clumps. Ends about 10 seconds early.
- Slow, pensive
- Dark. Double-sax harmony over heavy classical-toned piano.
- A slow expansive start, builds to a stormy tumult
- Peppy fun. Loose piano, sax fast but not overdone in response.
- Mid/fast late-night jazz wanderings, a lower register, a nice intensity after a quiet start.
- Very slow. Serious piano chords under expressive sax monologue.
- Tense, fast piano exercise; careful sax tones. Jittery.
- Rattly prepared piano. A spare feel, maybe a bit of goofing around (check the partially muted sax happening midway).
- Tiny percussive sounds. Drumbeats from the piano's insides.
- Spare, artsy. Builds to a nice rattle.
- 47-seconds of silence? Or, near-silence.
- Swayingly chaotic, mid/fast. Solid thump of an ending.
