Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2009-11-29
Aptly named band that pushes the Jesus and Mary Chain psyche realm to the limit: echoey distant male vocals, reverby guitar washes, sparse feedback. Borders on experimental, but then snaps back with rhythmic “songs”. Beautiful stuff for fans of Meat Whiplash (yes, look them up), KFJC, mushrooms and peyote.

1) tribal tom beat psyche, muddled vocs, new psychedelia a la JAMC, Meat Whiplash
2) cool upbeat feel
3) trippy echoey and druggy
4) a simple ditty, upbeat and minimal guitar melody with a strummy fuzzy offkey rhythm, I love you so
5) no beat, just blurry guitar, sparse tambourine, dreamlike buried vocals
6) simple plodding beat, elements of feedback, epic psyche
7) brief psyche noise
8) FCC: one “fuck” in a subtle very innoffense manner, begins decipherable, slow organ w/ vocals a beat picks up and this becomes ballady
9) stripped down, guitar, barely there, ominous with whispered vocals, melodies build
10) organ fades in, minimal guitar, no drums or vocs, an out-tro of sorts
